Actually whos to say they didnt have the battle rifle, it was never said that it was a brand new weapon, the only thing we know for sure is that the spartan armor was made and revised at specific times but other than that we dont have a great deal of information pertaining to the weapons used.

Yes; but the foces weren't as streached at the begining of the fight. 

For every ship that is blown up; thats all that ammo and supplies gone too.  And we lost a lot of ships.

 

Its easily explainable though.  Reach would probably have had advanced weapons... but not on every ship.  Especially such an old one; that you don't expect to love long 

Well spotted.  The battle rifle isn't in use until after the first game.  Halsey gives them to the SPARTANs on Reach, and they're brand spanking new weaponry, as I recall.

Yea it shouldnt be a problem to write in how.  Considering how possibly large the UNSC is and as with any weapon it takes time to replace weapons in the field.  Some frontile combat units would have recived them, then possibly earth and other battalions.  When the spartans recieved the new gun on reach it was just shipped in.  Which explains the old armament on the pillars of autum.  Since it takes time to put new weapons into mass production and time to phase out the old models.

Others are right, the battle rifle isn't a new weapon, it simply wasn't brough on the Pillar of Autumn.   

The time line is not that far apart.

the trailer looks amazing and i can't wait to get this game but why are they using Battle rifles? the BR was developed between halo 1 and halo 2. if this predates halo one then they should be using assault rifles.

Was it developed between halo 1 and 2 or did the MC just not get his hands on one until then?

I'm interested in the consistencies myself. I mean, if this is a canon game than surely it'll take the novels into mind (since they're cannon) and that means that the armor will need to be evolved and technically, they didn't even encounter Elites until the end of the 1st novel just prior to CE when all the Spartans had been killed so....
