    Squad size

Ok so i was thinking about the idea of picking your squad size for the scale of an engagement.....I some what get the idea from Rise and Fall: Civilizations At War.....it is quite a fun RTS if your computer can handle it......anyway in this game you can some what choose the size of your platoon......you make men seperatly (i know in halo wars they will be made in squads just hear me out) and then you divide up your numbers for smaller hit and runs or bigger mass fighting battalions of about 64 men if i remember right.....the down side is that after adding there men together you can not seperate them unless they die.....i would rather be able to pull so many squads as i choose out of the main battalion......i like the ideas i have read several times of adding squads together for this purpose.....it would be good for tactical reasons as well as saving your money since instead of massing you are being the smart people i know you are and putting your men into ambush positons and smaller strike teams as well as having your main engagement group ready
Though i fall with the glory of many, i wish all you remember me for the floods i survived and in the flood that i leave. good bye forumers, i leave for good.

    Re: Squad size

Zeon, I've considered that. But what about the covenant? The E3 footage shows some grunts with plasma pistols and some with needlers. And the sword elites? will they be solo? And will there be stealth elite teams?
    I apologize.

    But I'm not sorry.

And I meant all of it.

    Okay, I don't apologize

    Re: Squad size

that sort of falls in with the being able to put them together or keep them solo.....the grunt you would obviously need a large group because they are to cowardly to fight in a battle other wise......the elites with swords i would suggest small groups throughout your line....not directly in front of the line so they arent just fodder but close enough so if the enemy mouts a charge they can attack.....or even have them hid and wait for an ambush.....i didnt mean the post as UNSC only i just used them for my examples.....also it is true that in the game you couldnt mix your men but maybe the makers will just make it the species.....and also maybe the sword elites will lead grous and the sword can be a secondary weapon if they get close enough......as for stealth elites i would think of them as a squad of assassins andspies you would want to have a low number of but mayber many small squads of them

    Re: Squad size

pretty cool idea, but i dont see why some one wouldnt just get a huge platoon of sword elites and rush the base, my point is why would someone choose a smaller batalion vs. a large one?

    Re: Squad size

I guess i'm not totally sure what you're saying. Combining two squads of six to make one squad of twelve? It seems too combersome compared to just selecting both squads. With the other way, you'd constantly be making and disbanding groups, when you could just select a couple of squads and assign them to a group, like in other RTS games.

    Re: Squad size

its for a strategic advantig.....guerilla tacti you know....hit and run.....or you courld combine them all so you dont have to divide them from the other types of units and then use the paintbrush thing and try to avoid selecting somthing else....you just combine them and click once.....but also you have your smaller groups for support......you just have to think strategically

    Re: Squad size

Look, I get what you're saying, but it just seems really unneccesary. You're basically just describing group making, which is universal in RTS games (I.E. press CTL-2 to designate selected units as group two). You're basically just saying that minus the ability to use the units individually without totally disbanding the group.
    I apologize.
