I agree, too. I always thought that if they made an appearance, they would be sorta like the wildlife in Age of Empires, not controlled by anyone but still a hostile enemy.

One of the reasons there were no Battle Rifles in Halo 1 (besides the Spartans' weapons being destroyed) is the fact that The Pillar of Autumn's original mission before the attack of Reach was to capture a Covenant ship.  Now think to yourself, why would they use mid-long range rifles in close quarters (corridors and small rooms)? ...

I saw that the day the site launched, it's a pretty fun image to use. It's also a gamerpicture for the 360 if you pay for it.

SLRGrant: Will our post counts be kept?   The Welcome thread at the top said that these forums are temporary, and that some things might be deleted, such as post count or even user names.   These forums are being considered ‘temporary’ for the time being. At some point we are likely to need to ‘reset’ ...

It would be nice if we had the pick of playing using our controller, or plugging in a USB keyboard and mouse and playing like were on the computer.

There's no doubt in my mind some areas from the games and books will make an appearance in multiplayer, so it's logical to see Forerunner ruins of some kind.
